Michael Gillam Holland

Michael Gillam Holland, 59, a loving son, brother and friend passed away Aug. 17, 2012 from complications from a recent illness. After graduating from Lakeside High School in 1971 and attending DeKalb Community College, Mike assisted his family in continuing the family furniture business, Darling Interiors. Thereafter, Mike worked in various careers in the furniture and building industries. He was also a very active member in the family real estate business, HMS Holland Properties. Although he was born in Columbia, S.C., he was raised primarily in the Atlanta area. Mike was an avid sportsman. He spent a lot of his free time boating, sailing, hunting, fishing and seeking adventure. Mike’s passions were his Donzi racing boat, his Hobie Cat sailboat, his Porsche, and hunting wildlife. To many of his loving friends, he will be remembered as a loving thrill seeker who was a magnet for entertainment on a lazy afternoon. Survivors are his father, Jack Holland, his brother, Steve Holland, and his sister, Holly Holland Stewart. Mike will be truly missed by his family and friends. The visitation and memorial service will be at H.M. Patterson and Son, 1020 Spring St, Atl, Ga, from 6- 9 pm, on Mon, Aug. 20th. The service will begin at 8 pm.
