Mary Ellen Tucker

Mary Ellen Tucker, 78, of Flowery Branch died July 31, 2010. Mary Ellen Cunningham was born on February 3, 1932 in Enid, OK. She graduated from Sacred Heart College in Wichita, KS and worked as a medical technologist. She married William Lee Tucker on June 6, 1953. They moved to Atlanta, GA in 1964. Mary Ellen was active in her children’s school activities, including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, swim team, and soccer. She loved reading, sewing, cooking, antique shopping, and collecting music boxes. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church from 1964 to 2005. Mary Ellen was the much-beloved heart of her family. She made the Tucker house the center for family life and celebration for her children and grandchildren, and she was blessed to see the birth of two great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her. She is survived by her husband William Lee Tucker; daughters Kitt Tucker Hoffman, Susie Tucker; son William Lee Tucker, Jr. (Helen); sister Frances Elaine Tucker (James); grandchildren Terri Duffield (Casey), Thomas J. Hoffman, Catherine Ann Tucker; great-grandchildren Emily Marie Duffield, Griffin Xavier Duffield; and a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, at H.M. Patterson and Son Funeral Home Oglethorpe Hill. The funeral mass will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association are requested.
