Mary Ellen Goddard, 84, Atlanta, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017. She was born in Atlanta on March 13, 1932. Mary Ellen graduated from Hapeville High School in 1951. She was married to Jack Burton Goddard on February 14, 1958. She met Jack through his Sunday school teacher, and after dating only three months, they were married. He said she was fun and outgoing and never met a stranger.
Mary Ellen worked at Sinclair Oil & Refinery, later known as BP Oil & Refinery, from 1952-1971. She was a member of Forrest Hills Baptist Church, faithfully serving in the nursery there for many years. She loved taking care of babies.
Mary Ellen had a passion for learning about her ancestry and was meticulous in caring for the details of her home. She was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and relied deeply on Jack, her devoted husband of fifty nine years.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kathryn Goddard Taylor and Randy Taylor of DeBary, Florida, her granddaughters Sarah Taylor Grant, and husband Dan, of Baltimore, Maryland, her granddaughter Megan Taylor Anderson, and husband Jeremy, of DeBary, Florida, her grandson Seth Burton Taylor of DeBary, Florida and four great grandchildren, Curtis, Cameron, & Cathryn Grant and Trent Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her precious daughter Amy Janine Goddard, her four brothers Emil, Charles, Reese and David Kodatt, and her parents, Emil "Bo" and Jessie Mae Stephens Kodatt.
The family will receive visitors at H.M Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill in Brookhaven on Friday, February 10, 6-8pm and the funeral service will be on Saturday, February 11, at 10am with internment following at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
