Mary Brandt

Mary N. Brandt passed away on December 7, 2016. Mary was born in Simsville, AL and lived her early years on a farm there and then later on a farm in Mauk, GA. Her parents died while she was very young, She and her siblings then went to live for a time with her uncle and then her grandfather. They later worked in the cotton mills in LaGrange, GA. When the Second World War began, they, like so many others, moved to Marietta to work in the Bell Aircraft bomber factory (now Lockheed). She married William Brandt but lost him early in their marriage. She then moved to the Peachtree Hills neighborhood in Atlanta and began working at Life Insurance Co. of Georgia where she rose to become the payroll supervisor. After her retirement she became more active in her church and volunteered to assist with many of its' activities. She is survived by her brother, James Taylor Roberts, and her son, James Michael Brandt. Visitation will begin at H.M. Patterson's Spring Hill Chapel on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
