Mark was born in Georgetown, Guyana to Gem Hancock and Maurice Wong on May 9, 1965 – Mother’s Day! In his early years, he attended Enterprise Prep school in Georgetown. After moving to New York with his parents in 1975, he attended Wadleigh Prep school for gifted children and graduated from Louis D Brandeis high school in New York City. After high school, Mark joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Wichita, Kansas where he completed 4 years of military service. After leaving the Air Force, Mark worked in several career fields until he finally settled on the field of Information Technology and Computer Science. He was an IT consultant for 20+ years and worked at several companies including Wang Laboratories, Superior Telecommunications, PYA Monarch and IBM in addition to starting his own consulting firm to serve the needs of small businesses in the Atlanta area. When he wasn’t working, Mark enjoyed cooking for his family and friends, traveling, listening to music and enjoying life to the fullest. He enjoyed traveling by train whenever possible to enjoy the scenery and countryside. The last trip by train was along the Pacific Coast highway from Seattle to Los Angeles.
Mark was preceded by his father Maurice Wong who passed on June 5, 2013.
Mark is survived by his wife Regina Curry-Wong; ex-wife Annette; children Jacquline (daughter), James (son in law), Andrew (son), Christopher (son);his sister Lolita (in London), his mother, Gem Wong; mother in law Ann; father in law Tom; grandchildren Jasmine and James (M.J.); brothers in law Thomas, John, Alfonso, Michael; sisters in law Elizabeth, Lisa; nieces Madeline, Giselle; nephews Pierre, Preston, Aiden, Quinton (Quinn); uncle Cecil; aunts Ruth, Cheryl, Pauline; cousins Joy, Denise, Lisa (who was like a sister him) and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation is Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 5pm-8pm at H.M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday August 23, 2020 at 2pm at H. M. Patterson & Son - Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road NE, Brookhaven, Ga. 30319.
