SHAW, Luise Meredith Allison (1946-2012) - Mimi Shaw passed away on March 31, 2012 at the age of 65 in Atlanta while resting comfortably at home, surrounded by her family. Adored mother, grandmother, friend, and artist, she left this world with the same beauty, grace, and peace that she shared with so many others throughout her lifetime. Mimi was born July 14, 1946 in Atlanta to Robert Warren Allison and Luise Sims Allison. A graduate of The Lovett School, she then attended Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia and the University of Georgia. As a young girl she met Ross “Buddy” Campbell Shaw, Jr. at Sea Island, Georgia in 1961. They were married in 1968 and were blessed with four loving and boisterous boys and a wealth of friends. Mimi and Buddy were instrumental in founding the Morning Star Foundation, which is a nonprofit organization created to feed the orphans and widows in Southern Zimbabwe. Passionate about the Foundation, they raised money through several art show fundraisers. She had a successful career as an artist after rediscovering a love for painting in her forties. Mimi received numerous awards and recognition from Pleinaire Painters of Georgia, as well as the American Society of Marine Artists. Mimi cherished her time at Sea Island and Lake Rabun with her children, grandchildren and dear friends. Mimi is survived by her beloved husband Ross “Buddy” Campbell Shaw, Jr., her four sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff Landon Shaw and wife Jennifer, Michael Ross Shaw and wife Erin, Warren Kelly Shaw and wife Kelley, and Patrick Campbell Shaw all of Atlanta; grandchildren Maggie Shaw, Allison Shaw, Hunter Shaw, Campbell Shaw and her grandson arriving this summer. Predeceased by her father, Robert Warren Allison, she is survived by her mother Luise Sims Allison, her brothers Robert Bolling Allison and David Loomis Allison, and her sister Lynda Margaret Allison. The family is grateful to doctors, nurses, friends and family who helped her through her struggle with cancer the last several months. The family will receive visitors from 4pm to 6pm at HM Patterson & Son Spring Hill at 1020 Spring Street in Atlanta on Wednesday April 4th. A memorial service will be held at The Church of The Apostles, Northside Pkwy on Thursday, April 5th at 10:30am in the main chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family lovingly requests that donations be directed to the Morning Star Foundation, 1380 West Paces Ferry Road, Suite 2090, Atlanta, GA 30327.
