Lucille Shippen Turner went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2016. She was a native of Atlanta, born on September 15, 1926. She was the oldest of five children born to William Henry Shippen and Helena Jenkins Shippen. She attended E. Rivers Elementary, North Fulton High School, Ward Belmont College and Georgia State University. She was married to Noel Carson Turner and raised three sons, Noel Carson Turner, Jr. (Angelyn Tuggle), Scott Shippen Turner and Mark Shippen Turner (Carol Champion). She has four grandsons, Carson Turner and Charles Turner from Atlanta and Peyton Turner and Will Turner from Beaufort, SC. She was preceded in death by two brothers (Ben Shippen and Joe Shippen) and a sister (Elizabeth Shippen). She is survived by her sister, Ellen Shippen Hendrix and brother-in-law, Dr. Vernon J. Hendrix, sisters-in-law, Jo Shippen and Anita Shippen, and many nieces and nephews. Her hobbies included reading, needlepointing, sewing, erecting and furnishing three miniature doll houses and traveling around the world, both by plane and ship. She loved old movies and big band music. She had a wonderful sense of humor and made others who knew her laugh often. She was always a lady and fun to be with. She cherished her family and friends and all the good times of fellowship at birthdays, holidays and cook outs at Lake Lanier. She was a lifetime member of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held at Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive guests immediately following the service.
