Karen Schroeder began her career upon graduation from Michigan State University as a Packaging Engineer. In this capacity she served as an Engineer, Project Leader and Senior Technologist for General Foods Corporation and Johnson & Johnson. Her belief in the importance of the industry drove her to continued self-improvement; and she went on to earn her M.B.A. and Master of Accounting & Financial Management, both with high honors. At the time of her death, Ms. Schroeder was Director of Internal Audit for Printpack Incorporated, an industry-leading company with an international presence headquartered in Atlanta.
“Going to the grocery with Karen was an education, for she loved to point out invisible technology like microporous salad bags with selective permeability,” said David Watts, her loving companion of many years. “She remained delighted that the health and safety of her fellow man is preserved by sophisticated packaging technology of which they are often entirely unaware.”
Ms. Schroeder died peacefully at her home in the Vinings community of Atlanta after an extended illness. She was a Life Loyal member of the Delta Delta Delta Fraternity. Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 8th in the H. M. Patterson & Son - Spring Hill Chapel at 1020 Spring Street in Atlanta.
