“Julia”
(1925-2017)
Julia was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended high school at Washington Seminary and graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in English. She married Charles Scott, her true love of 67 years, in 1950. They went on to raise four children. Julia was a member of the Junior League and volunteered at Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church. Julia was an avid tennis player, love to garden, and to watch her alma mater, the Tar Heels, play basketball each year. She found her English degree useful including correcting her children’s grammar. Julia loved the mountains and had a true loved for dogs. She had a quick wit and sense of humor, which was appreciated by all who knew her
Julia is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Scott, son Charles Dowell Scott, three daughters, Camille Hood, Debbie Scott Avery, and Mary Lynn Smith, six grandchildren, Rebecca, Tyler Scott, Julia Avery, Alton Avery, Alex Smith, and Luke Smith and her dog Gracie.
Graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park on 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Time of service is 12:30pm on Monday, March 27, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atlanta Humane Society or Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society.
