I met Joe and the rest of the group, The Blitz, at a club in DC called The Butterfly! Joe was a magnificent musician, as was the rest of this band! Also went to see them perform at a club in Decatur, IL and again at the Cheshire Cat in Pittsburgh, PA!!! Joe was always a very polite and a wonderful person. So sorry to hear about his passing...much too soon! May you Rest In Peace with our Heavenly Father 🙏❤️😍

I was thinking about my past friendships and Joe Sofet came to mind. An incredible musician...kind and very intuitive  man.

I had a big crush on Joe and remember going to lunch with him in Georgetown...as we finished lunch, I lit up a cigarette and he questioned why I smoked and gave me several reasons why I should not smoke..very kindly I may add...I quit the very next day..thank you Joe, you were a wonderful inspiration and  influence as well as a very classy young man.

I was very sad to hear that Joe has died-- just too early!   He had such a great spirit and light about him, always excited to talk business, music, and family.   His friends and associates in business brokerage will miss him.  KAP

I was a member of the 9:00 choir at Holy Cross many years ago. Joe was such a kind man. He had such a wonderful smile. Him singing "Awesome God" was so grand. He will be missed. My heart goes out to the whole family. May Joe rest in peace.

Joe was a great Man!  We recently became friends for a short period of time.  In that short time I knew Joe was a great family man with a  a huge heart. A Great Christian man who loved life!  I will miss him very much.

How can this be?  I remember it like it was yesterday.  Sometime around the fall of 1964 I stopped by the Sofet house to interrupt their family dinner collecting for the Washington Post (the paper route I had to pay for my drums).  I apologized but knew dinner time was the best time to catch people at home.  As Mr. Sofet was paying me, Joe yelled over from the table, "Hey Danny, you still play the drums?"  And so it began....
That's the absolute true story of how Joe Sofet's music career began.  I was there.  I am only sorry I was not there to see him off.

We could not have asked for a more caring and loving nephew. His visits to New Jersey and more recently to Michigan will always be a special memory. Oh, how we miss him! I was so sorry to hear about Joe.  He was one the nicest people at TJ High.  I remember he always had a smile.  My heart goes out to his family.

I can't believe Joe is gone.  I just saw him in June when he came to Michigan to visit my Mom & Dad, his Aunt Rose and Uncle Walt.  It was a wonderful visit with lots of laughter and memories shared.  I was just reconnecting with him as an adult and feel so cheated that I won't have any more opportunities to get to know him better and hear his wonderful music.

Joe was the finest person I have ever known. His caring ways, thoughtfulness and generosity inspired me and everyone around him. Lynn, there are no words to express the sorrow I feel in losing Joe, and my heart goes out to you and Taylor and Jay for your tragic loss. Joe and I always talked about how wonderful it was going to be to watch Taylor and Ethan and Owen grow up with and hopefully continue what we had built up for them. That expectation of Joe and I growing old together is a loss I still canâ€™t believe. Joe was my second father and the brother that I never had, a unique and special man who was the best business partner I could ever want. He was my mentor, my sounding board, and my great friend. He will be sorely missed from this world, which he made a better place by his life and love.

God bless this wonderful man.            Memories will always be remembered.      My prayers are with the entire family.

We are parishioners of Holy Cross and want to extend our sympathy. Joe's voice, talent, and his warm smile will be sorely missed by us. He was such a faith filled man - he always received Communion with a heart-felt and confident "Amen" and a smile. He was truly an inspiration with his devotion to the 9:00 Mass Celebration Choir. We will always think of him when we hear the song "Awesome God", as he sang it so beautifully.

Lynn, Alan and I are so sad about the loss of your Dad.  He was a gentlemen, a smart businessman, and a great Dad to you and GrandDad to Taylor.  He was always so gracious with me and three of my daughters had the privilege of working for him.  Vanessa was so very close to your Dad and to you, and we all feel very blessed to have know him and Dianne.

Joe and I were part of a band in the '70s in the Washington, D.C. Area. The band was called Blitz -- the name chosen by the club owner, Lothar Kutcher, of the Butterfly. We were an excellent band and Joe was one of the major reasons. He had a true gift. There are some pics of ithe band on my FaceBook page. The last time I saw Joe must be more than 20 years ago when he had Kelly's on Peachtree. I will truly miss him -- though we didn't stay in touch, I always felt we were friends and that would go on forever. Another friend, Charlie Tompkey, posted on Facebook about Joe's passing. There are several dozen very nice comments and memories in reply there. I am living in Luxembourg now and I am sorry I cannot be there to help celebrate Joe's life. When I think of Joe I think gentle kindness.  I can't imagine Sundays without that smile and that amazing talent.  I asked him once how he could sing with such confidence and he told me that he just let the Spirit take over.  Thank you God for sharing Joe's spirit with us.  I pray for Lynn and his family.  Lynn, know that your father was loved and cherished by many.  His kindness and great heart will be sorely sorely missed.

Joe was an amazing fellow, and those of us who knew him are much better off for the experience.   There is a song which goes along the lines "Every person carves a spot and fills the hole with light."    Well Joe's love of family shown ever so bright!

I knew Joe from the old days in Washington DC and loved his music.  I was blessed to have been a special person to him and to have had him in my life until I moved to Florida ... you will be missed and are still loved.

Lynn, there are no words to express the sorrow I feel. Joe and I spent many days consoling each other, having both lost our wives within months of each other. We would joke that we were members of the club no one wanted to join. My business partner, my confidant, my mentor, my friend is gone. He will be sorely missed.

I was blessed to know the man who was your father and grandfather. My deepest sympathy for your loss. I have your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Joe was a great guy and fun musician to play with. He was an excellent singer and could handle those Doobie Bros tunes and an accomplished guitarist.  We will surely miss him. It was such a surprise that he left us so soon at age 63.

Lynn, Jay and Taylor...my heart and prayers go out to you...I loved Joe very much and will miss him greatly!  My only prayer is that you know he is now with your Mom (LYNN) in Heaven and either one no longer suffers any pain in any way!  They loved each other greatly!  They are both missed!  I love ya'll! I knew Joe from Thomas Jefferson. He was one of the nicest guys and had such a warm and friendly personality. Loved to hear him play w/the band at high school then at our reunions. I can still see his smiling face the last time I saw him at our reunion.

I was always in home room with Joe.  He was always such a quiet soul and ever so nice.  Loved hearing him play at our high school dances and events.  My heart goes out to his daughter and granddaughter.  He will be missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Joe's passing.  His gentle spirit often uplifted me during our high school years at TJ in Alexandria, VA.  God bless his family, and may his soul rest in peace!
