Born on October 17, 1945 in Knoxville, TN, John graduated from Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, FL and attended both Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia as well as Kennesaw University in Kennesaw, GA. John served his country for over 20 years, joining the United States Air Force in 1964, serving one tour in Vietnam, then continued this journey with the Georgia Air National Guard until retiring in 1991. John worked for Lockheed Martin for over 30 years.
John was a devoted husband, daddy, and papa who loved being outdoors participating in a variety of activities from coaching girls’ softball, umpiring softball, and coaching boys little league football. John enjoyed playing golf, fishing, camping, boating, and riding motorcycles. John was a Past Master of the Woodstock Masonic Lodge as well as a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Atlanta.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca White Chrisman, daughter Christina Leigh Chrisman Cornelison, stepdaughter Jennifer and DJ Ferrell, grandsons Logan Michael Cornelison and Reagan Orie Cornelison, granddaughters, Caslynn Elyssa Holcombe, Makayla Maria Ferrell, and Ryleigh Karsyn Ferrell. Brother Marvin & Janice Chrisman as well as the many friends John considered to be family. Preceded in death by parents Betty Jane Parks Chrisman Ordway and Marvin Francis Chrisman.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday July 27, 2020 at Georgia National Cemetery 2025 Mount Carmel Church Lane, Canton, Georgia. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to Patriot Guard, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, March of Dimes, and Wreaths Across America.
