Jane Esther Foley, 94, passed away peacefully January 24th, at Lenbrook Square, Atlanta. Born December 5, 1920 in Chattanooga, TN, Jane attended Andrew College (Cuthbert), graduated from Wesleyan College (Macon), and earned a six-year degree from UGA. During WWII Jane was a weapons inspector. After the war, Jane began her 42-year career with Atlanta Public Schools, teaching English and distributive education at Murphy High, and ended that career in public relations arranging a weekly radio show for APS, until her retirement in 1988. She embraced Atlanta, sharing all it had to offer with her many friends. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed its choir and circle activities; above all, Jane revered God. “On that celestial shore above” Jane will be reunited with her beloved parents Rev. Henry Thomas Foley, Sr., and Willie Wash Foley (St. Augustine), brother Rev. H. T. Foley, Jr. (Baltimore), and dear aunt Morelle Wash Criddle (Ft. Gaines). She is survived by brother David Foley, Sr. (Orlando), 8 nieces and nephews, and 22 great nieces and nephews, all of whom she enriched with her passion for travel and her delight in life. During her long life Jane nurtured her family continually. A private graveside memorial will take place in St. Augustine.
