James Robert Walsh was born in Massachusetts to Joseph Patrick Walsh and Eileen (Hannagan) Walsh on March 13, 1958. He graduated from Northern Illinois University. He worked in sales and as a business owner before becoming a banking executive at Elavon, Inc., a subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp, a position he held for over twenty-two years. Jim was a man of many talents. He was an avid gardener and worked tirelessly to create beautiful gardens wherever he lived. He loved to cook and learn new culinary skills.
Many of his friends remember his attempt to learn to play the saxophone with mixed success. There wasn’t a home renovation project that he couldn’t accomplish. Jim was a lifelong dog lover. Starting in high school and throughout his life he was involved in theater as a cast member in numerous productions. Most recently he took part in a comedic play at the Blue Ridge Community Theater. He was in rehearsal for two more productions at the time of his unexpected death.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Walsh and Eileen (Hannagan) Walsh.
Jim is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Kealie (Vass) Walsh of Atlanta, GA, daughter Treva Walsh of New York City, twin sons Keith Walsh and Brian Walsh of Atlanta, GA, brother Joseph Walsh, Jr. of Sarasota, Florida, sister Linda Walsh of Arnold, Maryland, and brother Thomas Walsh of Queenstown, Maryland, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by former in-laws, numerous cousins, and countless good friends, many of whom he maintained friendships with for decades.
Visitation and funeral services will be held at Oglethorpe Hill Chapel in Brookhaven, GA on Saturday, April 5, 2024 at 10 a.m. Private burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Queenstown, MD.
