James Earl Norris

James “Jim” Earl Norris, age 74, passed away on July 7, 2015. Born in Atlanta on March 22, 1941, Mr. Norris was a 1959 graduate of Marist High School in Atlanta, attended Georgia Tech and received his A.B. Degree from the University of Georgia in June of 1964. He previously earned an Honorable Discharge from the US Coast Guard Reserve. At the age of 27, he was appointed as Court Services Worker for the Dublin Judicial Circuit. Prior to this appointment he was employed by the Division of Children and Youth of the state. Jim retired from Fulton Co. juvenile courts and was currently working in the Atlanta Public School System. He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Margaret S. Norris. He is survived by his brother and sister in law, David w. and Darlene Norris of Chamblee; 3 nieces, Stephanie (Tim) Locke, Jennifer (Ron) Dymond and Davelon (Jeff) Waggoner; 2 great-nieces, Summer and Hannah Dymond and 3 great-nephews Hunter Dymond and Noah and Owen Locke and his long time dear friend, Patricia Patterson. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6-9 PM at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill at 4550 Peachtree Rd. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
