Ian James Raymer, 54 passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 surrounded by his adoring family. Ian, known as the Raymer Warrior will be remembered for his infectious smile, larger than life personality and kind, caring nature.
Ian was born in Toronto, Ontario to Douglas and Pat Raymer. He graduated from L’Amoreux High School and was an active member at Agincourt Pentecostal Church where he was a sound technician and sang in a trio with his father and brother. A true Canadian Ian loved hockey and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
He loved his family very much and was so proud of his daughters Amanda and Alyssa. As an incredible Grand Dude any time with his grandson Everett put a light in his eye and heart. His favorite times were spent experiencing things at record speed; nothing put a bigger smile on his face the way that NASCAR, boating and driving did. Always ready with a punny joke or retort he constantly made people smile.
Taking care of people was Ian’s specialty which was apparent in his career choices. Careers in Real Estate and Hospitality led him to healthcare. He loved his job at JenCare Senior Medical Center where he coined the phrase “taking care of Grandma”, which he did so well. The family would like to thank the Chen family for the love and support they provided throughout Ian’s illness.
Ian was predeceased by his father Douglas. He is survived by his wife Kristie Cain Raymer, daughters; Amanda Graybill (Dennis), Alyssa Raymer (Robbie Shaw); grandson Everett Doner; mother Pat Raymer, parents in-law Daniel and Patricia Cain; sister Rita Bernhardt (Barry), brothers Bruce Raymer (Kate Unger), Daniel Cain (Jennifer), Jason Cain (Kelly); and nieces and nephews Jenny (Dwane), Lindsey (Micah), Christen (Andrew), Michael (Samantha), Mark (Sarah), Daniel, Connor, Liam Logan, Emma and Colin and their families.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, October 21st at H.M. Patterson & Son, at 3:00 PM with a reception to follow. For those that cannot attend the Atlanta Celebration of Life, a second service will take place in Toronto, Ontario at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Office of Gift Records, Emory University, 1762 Clifton Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30322. The doctors and nurses at Emory were exceptional and we can’t thank them enough for their care and compassion.
