Herbert Titus Hand III died on Easter Sunday, April 16 at the age of 92. He was the son of Catherine Sherrill Hand and Herbert Titus Hand Jr., and was born in Stamford CT in 1925. He was predeceased by his two wives Mary Gallup Hand and Julia Williams Hand. He is survived by his two children, William P. Hand of Trenton NJ and Sarah Hand Pope of Dedham MA, her husband Christopher, and his two grandchildren Christopher of New Orleans LA and Elizabeth of Los Angeles CA. He was known affectionately as Dooley, Gramps, and Herb. He graduated from Salisbury School and attended Williams College. He served as a Marine in the Pacific on board the USS San Jacinto in World War II. Herb worked for Parker Brothers in Salem MA and as a Sales Representative in the Southeast for many toy companies. He lived and worked in Boston, New York City and Washington DC and Atlanta. He loved all those cities and the coasts of both Rhode Island and Maine, where he spent many summer days. He loved the Boston Bruins, sailing and skiing and helped to organize a ski club in Atlanta. Later in life he read voraciously and could often be seen by his wonderful caregivers reading a book or a newspaper in the courtyard of the William Breman Jewish Home. His engaging personality and persistent optimism will be missed. His service will be held on Saturday May 20 2017 at 3:00 at St Anne's Episcopal Church, 3098 St. Anne's Way, Atlanta, Georgia 30327.
