Hawkins Francis Wilber, 24 years old, died at his home in Atlanta on Friday, April 13, 2012. Hawkins, son of Joe and Aidan Wilber and older brother of James Wilber, was born October 14, 1987. He attended the Lovett School where he excelled in lacrosse, football, and basketball and graduated in 2006. Hawkins was a 2010 graduate of The College of Charleston, studying abroad at the University of Innsbruck in Austria for a semester, and earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity where he served as Sargeant at Arms and Parliamentarian. Hawkins had a passion for sports and participated in baseball, lacrosse, basketball and football throughout his life. In 1999, he helped his Northside Youth Organization (NYO) team win the Little League Georgia State Baseball Championship. He loved travel and the outdoors, participating in Outward Bound, Moondance, the Lovett School’s rainforest program in Ecuador, backpacking in Italy and walking across England last summer. Hawkins had recently moved back to Atlanta after his graduation and had begun a career in real estate. Hawkins made friends wherever he went and will be missed by his team mates, school friends, fraternity brothers and work colleagues, as well as his family. He is survived by his parents Joe and Aidan Wilber, his brother James Wilber, his grandmother Patricia B. Wilber and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial service for Hawkins will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday April 22nd at The Carter Center, 453 Freedom Parkway, Atlanta 30307. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, 175 Samaritan Dr., Jasper, GA 30143.
