He was born in West Palm Beach, FL, a son of the late Jana Brabec and Hugh Fleming. Surviving is his husband, Christopher Wade. Their meeting was a coincidence that fulfilled their lives with joy, laughter, spirituality, and unending support.
Greg was a graduate of Palm Beach Public and went on to graduate in 1986 with a degree in Architecture from Clemson University where he was also a SAE fraternity member.
He was an 18 year employee of Ritz Carlton hotels with time at Palm Beach, Marina del Rey, and Buckhead, in positions of doorman, bellman, and concierge. As concierge, Greg fully embraced the Ritz Carlton credo. His greatest joy was in ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen. Greg put all into satisfying each and every guest and their needs. He extended this grace to fellow employees, vendors, and anyone he came across.
Greg went on to serve the brand as a concierge at the Ritz Carlton Residences, Atlanta, after the opening of the property.
Aside from the Ritz brand, Greg also had a successful ownership career in home décor with Hodge Podge in the 1990’s, Davonshire 2008 - 2010, and Gregory Joseph Designs for over 12 years. His touch of elegance and style was his identity and he loved matching every customer with the most fitting options. Many customers became long term family friends.
Naturally gifted with emotional intelligence, Greg positively impacted every person he came across and put them first. His smile, wit, humor, sparkle, trustworthiness, and sense of humor was embracing and comforting to all. He loved the energy of 1980’s British new wave and the melodic sounds of country music. Greg loved life, celebration, and encouraging others towards a positive life even in the face of diversity. Greg was deeply grounded and lived by his Episcopalian faith.
As a couple, Greg’s favorite destination was his second home in Watercolor on the Florida panhandle. Greg loved traveling with Regent Seven Seas Cruises and an occasional getaway to a remote luxury hotel.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on Sunday, November 5, from 1 PM to 3 PM in Atlanta. As the space is private, please contact his spouse for details to be added to the guest list.
In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial gift to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Greg’s name.
