Gregory Scott Crawford was born December 12, 1961, in Copperhill, Tennessee and passed away on December 20, 2023. Greg was in banking for 21 years and worked at BB&T Bank and predecessor banks. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Louise Bradley Crawford. Greg is survived by his father, Carl “Pete” Crawford, his siblings, Gary L. Crawford and Karen Rachael Crawford, and his niece and nephews Garran Crawford, Cody Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Steven Shelton and Korie Shelton, and also his great nieces and nephews Zoe Crawford, Layla Crawford, Maddox Crawford, Lukas Cirlos, Kali Cirlos and Clara Crawford. Other family included Sean Reilly, Pam Dixe, Sheliah Crawford, Hope Crawford, Joe Cirlos, Joni Crawford, Reilly Family and Jeff Ondatje as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.
Greg was everybody’s best friend. He just simply connected with everyone and became friends for life. Everyone has their own personal memory of Greg and how he impacted their lives. He cared deeply about his family and friends. He gave them support when they needed it. He worried when they struggled and was always there to listen. His spirit and faith defined him. His kindness, humor, energy and love filled every room. He was the bravest soul this past year while he was trying to get stronger. He fought to get well, never complained and stayed positive. Greg was very spiritual and appreciated the power of prayer. He was lifted in prayer daily via prayer groups and by those who loved him dearly. One of his prayer partners shared that he was fond of the scripture Joshua 1:9 which says “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” His faith was strong and he knew God was by his side. Greg could find humor in just about anything. Many stories can’t be repeated on any media site or anywhere on the world wide web. A recognizable grin would always appear on his face when those gears starting turning in his head. And, he never failed to follow up the grin with a witty remark that would leave everyone in stitches. Greg had undying love for his pets, Elly May, Katy, Oliver, Roxy and Sally. For those of you who were familiar with his posts on social media, Greg would regularly share the shenanigans that they got into on a regular basis. Greg loved classic cars. He owned a 1969 Lincoln Mark III, 1970 Pontiac Catalina 400 and a 1979 Cadillac Phaeton, to name a few. Greg had a fond appreciation for interior design, decorating and architecture. Greg worked tirelessly managing estate sales and everyone counted on having fun while they were there. While Greg also had a home in Palm Springs, California, which he renovated into a Hollywood Regency style, he was a true Southerner with an abundance of Southern charm. We will miss him every day and are so sad that he isn’t here with us now, but he will always be our Spirit in the Sky. We love you Greg.
