George Stanford Rouse of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016. Stan was born in Anniston, AL, on July 19, 1928. He graduated from Gadsden High School and was drafted into the Army where he served four years. A self-taught artist, Stan worked as an art director in Atlanta where he met Elizabeth. They were married on Feb. 1, 1958, and were married for 55 years until Elizabeth's passing in 2013. Most of Stan's career was in graphic arts. He retired from Graphics Atlanta in 1993. Stan's art talent included making furniture; sculpting; and paintings and portraits in watercolor, oil, pencil, and charcoal. In his retirement, Stan illustrated a children's book called When I Was With the Angels. Stan is survived by his daughter, Stacey Coker; his sons, Stan Rouse, Jr. (Cathy), and Scott Rouse (Stacy); and two granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth Coker and Angela Coker, MD. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Atlanta, followed by interment at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Fisher House Foundation to help our military is appreciated.
