Elizabeth Rovtar Thayer passed away peacefully at home on September 21, 2015. She was born on June 14, 1944 to Leo and Eileen Rovtar in Columbus, Ohio. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard D. Thayer, her daughter Emily Crenshaw (Brian) of Alpharetta, her son Jeffrey (Angela) of Dunwoody, and her three grand-children, Miles and Addison Thayer and Caroline Crenshaw. She is also survived by a sister Jolee Chall (Keith Redfern) of Chesterland, Ohio and a brother John Rovtar (Sheri) of Worthington, Ohio.
She attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University. After graduation she worked as a reference librarian and a special education
teacher before becoming a devoted mother and homemaker.
She was a long time member of Dunwoody United Methodist Church where she served in leadership positions on many committees and boards. She particularly enjoyed working with the Women’s Community Kitchen and providing assistance to those in need. Her greatest role and the one that she loved most was being Nana to her three grand-children. She was a kind and gracious lady who was an inspiration to the many who knew her.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11AM at Dunwoody United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10AM with a reception following the service.
