Dorothy was born on July 24, 1937 in Tallapoosa, Georgia the daughter of Jesse and Nell Coggins. She attended local schools graduating in 1955 from Roosevelt High School. After high school she would attend a trade school in the Atlanta area.
Dorothy married James W. Bailey on June 30, 1955 and they would have one son Bryan Bailey in 1956. She worked for over twenty years for Computer Generation in Atlanta. She would later go to work for another computer company retiring in 2006.
Dorothy is survived by her son Bryan (Heather) Bailey of Sandpoint, Idaho and her brother Vernon Coggins of Dallas, Georgia.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband James who passed away in 2005.
A visitation will be held at H. M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Brookhaven, GA 30319 on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral service will be held at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00am. Interment will take place at Dawn Memorial Park.
