Diane "Dee" Grindell

On the morning of Friday March 4, 2016, Diane (Dee) Forehand Grindell died after her heroic two-year battle with cancer in her home surrounded by family. Dee battled this terrible disease with the same grace and dignity that embodied her life. She was an Atlanta native born on December 14, 1959 to Bebe Forehand and Mike Nabarro.

Dee is survived by her mother Bebe Forehand and her twin sister Vicki Haug and family, as well as her daughters Samantha and Grace, siblings Terri Carroll and Gavin Bell and their families, and her beloved partner David Golden. She was preceded in death by her father Mike Nabarro and her stepfather Roy Forehand.

Dee attended Georgia State University for both her undergraduate degree and Masters degree in Education and Organizational Development. An inspiring and energetic educator, Dee’s passion for education carried her through her entire career. She founded Revive Education Services, a consulting firm that trained healthcare professionals and educators in management, customer service, and communication. Dee later became a professor and graduation coach at Kennesaw State University where all loved her.

Dee enjoyed music, shopping, and reading, but her greatest joy was spending time with her daughters and loved ones. She was a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend; she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday March 9, 2016 at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Hill Funeral Home from 7-9 PM. A celebration of her amazing, all too short life will follow on Thursday March 10, 2016 at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Decatur at 11 AM. The family requests those attending the funeral bring or wear their favorite hat to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to “Feed the Heart” at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at www.choa.org/feedtheheart.
