Darin Hughes Engle, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, December 27 at the age of 55. Born and raised in St Louis County, Missouri, Darin lived a life filled with resilience, responsibility, and jocularity. He was a man of remarkable character, known for his wit and pragmatic optimism that touched the lives of all who knew him. Darin was an avid cyclist and found solace on the roads of Atlanta.
He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elise, and father, Thomas. Darin is survived by Marietta, his wife of 17 years, his daughter, Emeline, his mother, Martha, his brothers Tom (Kelley) and Robert, and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Darin was a graduate of Indiana University where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He later earned a Master’s Degree from Georgia State University. A resident of Atlanta since 1996, he excelled at his career in systems engineering, spending over 16 years with Turner Broadcasting/Warner Bros.
A memorial will be held on January 13 at HM Patterson & Sons-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, from 2-4 PM, where friends and family can honor his memory and share stories of his vibrant life In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to CureSMA and the Path Foundation..
Though he may have pedaled his last mile, Darin's spirit and legacy will forever ride alongside those who shared his passion for life, exploration, and the open road. May he rest in the peace he sought in his life's journey.
