Curtis was born in Newport, Rhode Island to Dr. Joseph Rice Moody and Mrs. Doris Baker Moody on August 18, 1942. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He married Beverly Askew on June 13, 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked in credit unions and served as a branch manager for many years. He also participated in the local Rotary club.
During his service in the United States Army he was deployed to Vietnam where his unit received a Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 bronze stars. He received a Combat Medic Badge and the Army Commendation Medal. He returned to Fort Benning, GA in 1969 where he met and fell in love with Beverly.
Curtis Moody was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Rice Moody and Doris Baker Moody. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Beverly Moody and his two children Jane (Scott) of Lake Wylie, SC and Jay (Hayley) of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also survived by his five grandchildren: Timothy, Elizabeth, Rachel, Molly, and William. In addition, he is survived by his two brothers and sister: William Moody, Jayne Vorder-Bruegge, and Stanson Moody.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (3180 Peachtree Road NW) in Atlanta, Georgia at 11:00am. A private graveside service will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
