He fought bravely and hard for those he loved, for he was always one to put family first.
Chris earned his PhD in English Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Louisville in 2010 and joined the faculty of the University of Georgia in 2011. He taught students how to write, and how to write well. Chris came from a long line of educators, always finding the time to give feedback to his students and validating the work they did. He found his passion and loved what he did.
Chris’ heart was large enough for all who knew and loved him. His wife Linda Torok was the love of his life, his constant partner, and his advocate. His mother, Beverly Alexander, and his older sister, PJ Godwin, both in Hoover, AL, were able to be with him in his final days.
He was preceded in death by his father David, and now leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousins, in laws, and numerous friends.
If you were lucky to know Christopher, you know he loved you. If you were lucky enough to have been one of his students, you know he cared for you, even if he tended to ramble on.
Pursuant to his wishes, no formal memorial service will be held, but all are welcome to leave prayers, pictures, and memories for the family.
