His early education was in DeKalb Public Schools where he attended Lynwood Park School. He attended David T. Howard High School for one year and graduated high school from Lynwood Park. He graduated from the Culinary Institute of America with a degree in Food Service Management. He worked in food service at Brook Run and retired as the food service manager at GMHI.
He met his wife, Dorothy, in Atlanta and they were married in Connecticut on June 20, 1961. They had two children, Denise and Charles Clifford III, and one grandson, Charles Clifford IV.
He joined the church at China Grove Baptist at an early age. He then attended Zion Baptist Doraville where he was ordained a deacon and presided over the Brotherhood department. In later years, he attended Little Zion Baptist Church where he was the Superintendent of Sunday School. He served Little Zion as a deacon for many years.
He was called home to his Savior on January 22, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dorothy, his daughter Denise, his brother Richard (Charlotte), nieces, nephews, cousins, family, neighbors and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary, his infant sister, his son Charles C. III, and his grandson Charles C. IV.
