Funeral services for Carlton Eugene Renfroe will be October 1, 2021 at H.M. Patterson & Son-Oglethorpe Hill Chapel. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. and services will follow at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel. Burial will be at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA.
Carlton was born November 23, 1931 in Atlanta, GA to Carlton Eugene, Sr. and Henrie Thomason Renfroe. Carlton graduated from Chamblee High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1953 as a Utilities Repairman during the Korean Conflict. He earned the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, U.N. Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and a Purple Heart Medal. He continued his military service in the National Guard where he retired in 1985.
After his time in the service, he married Margaret Louise Copeland in 1953, and moved to the old home place in Dunwoody, GA, where he raised 4 children.
Carlton worked as journeyman plumber and later had his own grading/excavation business until he retired in 2002. He was active in the Dunwoody Lions Club, National Guard, and later in the VFW Post 10822. He enjoyed NASCAR racing, repairing motors, Big Band/Swing music and after retirement, traveled to attend Glen Miller music events. He also contributed to the history of Chamblee High School and the City of Dunwoody. Carlton loved spending time with all of his family and was a devoted friend to many.
Carlton is survived by his wife of 11 years, Mildred Carter Renfroe; four children, Deborah Craig (VA), Pamela Martin, Gregory Renfroe and Carla Aselton (TX); his brothers, James C. Renfroe, Robert Bogan Renfroe; sisters, Betty Jane Henry (MI) and Anne Wilson. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 13 nieces and nephews and 1 great grandchild.
Pallbearers are Charles Martin, Jared Martin, James C. Renfroe, Robert Bogan Renfroe, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or VFW Post 10822.
