Brenda was born in Ashland, KY. to Viva Carter Franz and Henry Edward Franz on September 25,1952.
Brenda graduated from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA in 1974, then moved to Atlanta where she earned a Master’s degree from GA State University. Her professional career spanned 32 years with BellSouth and AT&T as a regional account executive before retiring in 2015. She was an avid ALTA tennis player for years and was fond of golf as well. Boating became a favorite pastime along the FL Gulf Coast enjoying crabbing and fishing, but she was not fond of overnight anchorages! Her true passions were gardening, hiking, and spending time at her mountain home in Otto NC. Each spring she would plant more than one hundred zinnias which she had meticulously started from seed vowing year after year never again!
She was a supporting member of the Atlanta History Museum, the High Museum of Art, and a passionate supporter of The Humane Society of the United States.
She is survived by her loving, and devoted Life Partner of 34 years, Diane Weller, her brother, Michael Franz and sister-in-law Caroline Franz of Flat Rock, NC. nephew, Steven Franz, great nieces and a great nephew. She leaves her best buddy, Maddie (Golden Retriever).
Memorial Donations may be made to The Humane Society of the United States.
