Bonnie McIntosh McAllister, 64, of Atlanta, Georgia died Monday, October 27th, 2014. She was the daughter of Robert Eugene and Jean Carter McIntosh. She is survived by her children, Mary Roughton Burge of Loganville, Georgia, Robert Carter and Valorie Roughton of Cumming, Georgia, and Amy Carrigan Roughton of Atlanta, Georgia; her sisters Sara McIntosh Wooten of Mexico, Missouri and Elizabeth McIntosh Trusty of Dallas, Texas, as well as 6 grandchildren. Bonnie was born in Washington, D.C. Her father was working on his Master's Degree while her mother worked for Senator Cooper from Kentucky. She subsequently lived in Mexico, Missouri, Dallas, Texas, Macon, Georgia, and Birmingham, Alabama. She attended Berry High School, Vestavia Hills, Alabama, where she excelled at the clarinet and won many state awards. She then received her B.A. from Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia. Her mother taught her to play piano, which she enjoyed throughout her life. She gave piano lessons for many years and played piano every Sunday at church during much of her adult life. She was a CPA and worked for several different corporations during her career. Bonnie was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church and among its most faithful volunteers in the church’s homeless ministries. Her service included providing meals to the homeless who came to the church for assistance; volunteering at the Women’s Transition Center, where she also served on the Center’s Steering Committee; overseeing the operation of the Food Panty; and coming to the Community Ministries office 4 days a week to volunteer in whatever capacity she was needed. Second only to the joy that her children and grandchildren brought to her, Bonnie was happiest when she was serving the less fortunate. She was a loving and involved grandmother to her 6 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church Community Ministries.
