Beverly Sams

Beverly Nixon Sams, 85, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2014. Born in Atlanta, Ga., Beverly graduated from Druid Hills High School and went on to get a Journalism degree from the University of Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Gyles Nixon and Marion Couch Nixon. Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Nixon, and her beloved husband Charles Joseph Sams. She is survived by her children Joseph Augustine Sams of Southern Pines, N.C. and his wife Terry Ann; Marian Sams Sheffield of Dunwoody and her husband Don; Mary Sams Speir of Atlanta and her husband, John; and 9 grandchildren. Beverly was loved dearly by her family and friends, and all will miss her laughter, smile and stories. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 4 pm at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in the Wilson Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 3 pm and a celebration reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Beverly’s life with a gift may do so with a contribution to the Georgia Conservancy.
