She then attended the University of Alabama and was an active Pi Beta Phi sorority member. She received a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She worked for Eastern Airlines based in Atlanta as a flight attendant upon graduation. She met Pete on a blind date and soon got engaged. She attended and was an active member in her local churches in the area. They were members of Shallowford Road Presbyterian Church, Oak Grove UMC, and Mt Pisgah UMC.
Following her years of raising children, at 54, Betty attended the Psychological Studies Institute program to enhance her role as a lay pastor within the Stephens Ministry at Mt. Pisgah. Betty loved caring for people as she helped them through their trials and tragedies of life.
She was a treasured friend with a selfless servant’s heart who served her friends and family with deep compassion and love. She walked with so many cherished friends, and they were precious to her. She treasured her lunch bunches, Bible study, and neighbors during her seasons of life. She was especially close to her fabulous four, who have shared 60 years of life’s journey and her dear friend since sixth grade.
Above any attribute or accolades, Betty Jensen was a devout follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She received total peace and comfort as she awaited her father to take her to her eternal home. Betty was a profoundly devoted Mother, Grandmother fondly called Gma, and great-grandmother.
