Arthur George Pappas, age 80, passed away on March 26, 2018 in Atlanta. Born on March 13, 1938 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Arthur joined the Marines at the age of seventeen and served until he left to attend college. He then joined the Army and served in the Military Police, where he was stationed in Japan for two years and then Vietnam. After a decade of honorable service, he left the Army and opened Bob’s Dairy Barn in Roswell, GA. His sense of service led him into a career with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department. After his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, especially scroll work. As a member of the Greek Orthodox community, he could always be found in the kitchen preparing event meals and cooking lamb for the Annual Greek Festival. He was a member of the Arcadian Society and a member and former president of the Danaos Society. Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie Beleos Pappas, son Van Pappas and his wife Lori Thompson Pappas, his grandson, Thanasi Pappas, and his sister, Corinne Krupsa of Tennessee. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5-7 pm at H.M. Patterson and Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, Atlanta, GA 30319. The funeral will be held Friday, 11 am, at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2550 Clairmont Road, Atlanta, GA 30329.
