JOHNSON, Jr., Allan Barrett (Al), age 72, died peacefully on the afternoon of April 12 at Hospice Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. Born on June 25, 1944 in New York City to Allan Barrett Johnson and Margaret Frances Carson Johnson, Allan grew up in Atlanta and attended North Fulton High School, graduating from The Westminster Schools. After earning a degree in economics from Yale University in 1966, Allan served at the Pentagon in the United States Army. He received the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service and was a First Lieutenant when he was honorably discharged in 1969. Allan later attended Emory University and Georgia State University, studying business, finance, and law, earning multiple Master’s level degrees and a law degree. Over the years, Allan worked for C & S Bank, was Director of Contracts and Procurement for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), and practiced law as a general attorney in solo practice before retiring and moving to Lawrenceville and later to Greensboro, Georgia. Allan was the oldest of four brothers, and he is survived by all three of his younger siblings: Samuel Carson Johnson, Charles Stewart Johnson (Kathi), and Jan James (Jim) Johnson (Florrie). Allan will live on in the hearts and memories of his three daughters and seven grandchildren: Mary Suzanne Johnson-DeLeon (Donaldo) and Shannon; Jennifer Critzer (Keith) and Nora, Paul, Sydney, and Samantha; and Elizabeth Elaine Peach (Mark), Aiden and Nathan. Family and friends will remember Allan for his love of the outdoors, camping and canoeing trips, summer weekends at the cabin, fishing on Johnson Lake, and watching the deer. Visitation will be Saturday, April 15, from 10am to 12pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill Chapel, 4550 Peachtree Road, N.E., Atlanta, GA 30319. Allan will be laid to rest alongside his parents with a graveside service at 2pm on Saturday, April 15 at Westview Cemetery, 1680 Westview Drive, S.W., Atlanta, Georgia 30310. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Allan's name to Hospice Atlanta Center, 1244 Park Vista Drive, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30319.
