Alfred was born in Atlanta, GA to Laban S. Johnson Sr. and Marie Gailmard Johnson on March 8, 1923. He married Mary Leonard on December 2, 1947 in Atlanta, GA. He worked as the Director of Food Services for Georgia Mental Health Institute for 24 years. He was a retired Army veteran of World War II with 22 years of service and was awarded The Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary L. Johnson.
Alfred is survived by his daughters, Carol Berryhill, Wendy Davis, Mary “Tina” Curley and Angela Prosser; grandchildren, Kimberly Golden, Dawn Loud, Michael Prince, Randee Welch, Anna Kile, Jason Curley, Christopher Curley, Andrew Prosser and Marisa Prosser and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Westview Cemetery.
