He was born in Clio, SC on September 17, 1927 to Thomas Rowe Harvill, Sr. and Elizabeth Hobbs Harvill. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1949 where he played varsity basketball and was the team captain. He attended Athens Y Camp and was a lifelong supporter. He served his country as a member of the US Navy. Morgan was an agency manager for State Farm Insurance for 40 years and a member of Clayton Baptist Church in Clayton, GA. Morgan played competitive tennis doubles and was a top ranked player for many decades.
Morgan was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Harvill Ginn (Perry), brother, Thomas Rowe Harvill, Jr. and stepson Matthew Windham.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Ford Harvill, son and daughter-in-law Morgan, Jr. (Judy), daughter and son-in-law, Zan (Andy) Smith, stepchildren Jon (Donna) Windham, Julie Windham, and Mike (Jeanea) Windham.
Morgan is survived by his grandchildren Cade Harvill, Ryan Harvill, Ross Wakefield, Justin Wakefield, Westbrook Smith, Ashlyn Smith, Carrie Foust, Caroline Windham, Katie Marie Windham, Grayson Windham and Keeli Windham. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Martha Harvill and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 21 from 1-2 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park in Athens.
