William (Bill) was a 1945 graduate of R. E. Lee High School and was drafted from North Georgia College to serve in the army to serve in WWII. After graduating from the Army language school in California he also served in Korea and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He then entered private business but remained a reservist, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.
In between stints in the military he attended several both the University of Georgia, and Georgia Tech. In 1978 he co-founded Fowler Office Products and served as president of the National Office Products Dealer Association. He was a member of Lions Club and Beech Haven Baptist Church.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Cash Fowler. He is survived by his two sons W. Todd Fowler and wife Deborah of Athens, and W. Mark Fowler and wife Sherry of Raleigh, NC; brothers Ray, Roy, and Bobby Fowler of Athens, TN, sisters Charlene Daniel of Thomaston and Mary Pitts of Ocala, FL.; granddaughters Katherine Fowler of Honolulu, HI, and Megan and Libby Fowler of Raleigh; and grandsons Scott Fowler of Athens, and Graham Fowler of Raleigh.
Funeral Services will be held 10AM Monday, August 6th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.
