A native of Athens, Mr. Shelnutt was the son of the late Zillah Lou Harper and Henry E. Shelnutt, Jr. He was also preceded in death by two sons Nathan Shelnutt and Harold Wayne Culbertson, grandson Nathan Shelnutt and sister Cynthia Shelnutt. Mr. Shelnutt was a retired transportation specialist and was the first 1st responder for the North Oconee County Fire Department. He also served two tours in The Us Navy in Viet Nam and was a member of the Elder Road Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Pat Shelnutt of Statham, sons William Lamar Shelnutt Jr. and wife Rita of Carlton, James Anthony Shelnutt and wife Kimberly of Comer and Walter Abraham Shelnutt of Statham; daughters Helene Maria Sanders and husband Jimmy of Nicholson and Christina Dawn Parker of Statham; grandchildren Alicia Nicole Puckett McCarthy, James William Sanders Jr, Jessica Dawn Parker, Toni Denise Shelnutt, Valerie Marie Parker, Monique Alexis Shelnutt, Gower Rufus Parker, Pete Brown Parker, Hunter Dalton Shelnutt, Danny Parker, Virginia (Sissy) Parker, Daniel Wayne Culbertson, and Brittany Patterson, brother Henry Shelnutt, III, 7 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, November 17th, at the Elder Road Baptist Church with Rev. Carlton Shelton officiating.
The family will receive friends 7-9 Monday, November 15 at Bernstein.
