Toby James Tarpley of Athens passed away peacefully January 8, 2023.
Toby was born in Jefferson, Georgia on July 25, 1942 and was a proud Navy veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Georgia Tarpley and brother, Billy Painter of Florida.
Toby is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Youngblood Tarpley of Athens; daughter, Carol Shubert of Dahlonega; sons, Jimmy Tarpley (Crystal) of Athens and Ted Tarpley (Jessica) of Duluth. He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will welcome visitors for a celebration of life at Bernstein Funeral Home on Saturday, January 14, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Words of remembrance will be shared at 4:30 p.m.
