Sharon Wright Mitchell passed away from cancer on January 02, 2023 at the age of 53.
She taught creative writing at West Jackson Middle School in Jefferson, GA. During her long career as an educator, she was also a media specialist at Benton Elementary School in Jackson County.
Sharon was a true artist, photographer and poet with nearly 50 publications of her poetry and creative writing. In addition, she was a licensed wild mushroom expert and a lover of the outdoors. She could often be found hiking the trails of north Georgia with her child, Kerry Mitchell. A very accepting and loving mother, Sharon knew when to be tough and when to be encouraging. She was also a beloved mentor for other aspiring writers, including the students she took under her wing.
She is survived by her child, Kerry Anne Mitchell.
