Sarah McLeod Guy

Sarah McLeod Guy passed away September 4, 2010. She was a resident of Athens for 56 years and a member of the First Baptist Church. She was born in Quitman, GA, June 27, 1922, the daughter of Archie and Sally McLeod of Quitman and Thomasville, GA.

Mrs. Guy served as the director of the Selective Service office in Athens, GA, in the 60’s and until its closing in the 70’s, and also worked with the Russell Research Center until retirement. She was a resident of Talmage Terrace in Athens for the past 10 years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, A.C. Guy, who died in 1981. Survivors include a son, Colonel Robert A. Guy (Jodie) of Athens, daughter Saranne Guy Smith (Barry) of Bogart, and daughter Cathy Guy Cofer(Phillip) of Athens, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, her sister, Jane McLeod Hulsey of Dallas, TX, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 4 PM Sunday, September 5, at Evergreen Memorial Park with Dr. Jon Appleton and Dr. Paul Baxley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to First Baptist Church, 355 Pulaski St., Athens, GA 30601
