Sally Jones Stowers

Sally Jones Stowers of Athens, GA, was born July 11, 1938. She died on May 25, 2023. She was the widow of Horace Stowers who passed away in 1980. She was preceded in death by her son, Bannon Stowers in 2015; her sister, Delavan “Del” Jones; and her parents, Stella Salisbury Jones and Bannon Jones.

Sally is survived by her son, Horace Edward Stowers of Athens, GA; two grandchildren, Emma Lucy Stowers and John Edward Stowers of Suwanee, GA.

Many happy times were had at the house she owned at Ponte Vedra Beach, FL. She loved the beach and the ocean.

Sally was a native of Athens attending Clarke County Schools and graduating from Stratford Hall in Danville, VA. She graduated from UGA with a B.S. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She owned for many years a successful antique business. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Glenwood Garden Club. Sally attended St. James United Methodist Church. She had a multitude of friends in Georgia and Florida.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 5, at 11:00 a.m., at St. James United Methodist Church with a reception to follow at the church.
