Robert was born in Johnson City, TN to the late Benjamin and Barbara Blakely Lumpkin and was a U.S. Army veteran. Robert moved to Athens in 1981 and worked with the University of Georgia-Physical Plant, Pep Boys and owned and operated an antique store with his mother in Watkinsville and later his own antique store in Statham. He was a former member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and currently attended Oconee Street United Methodist Church. Robert enjoyed traveling, playing the cello, mountain biking and collecting antiques. He had a special love of animals, especially cats, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Pepper Perretta; and son, Benjamin Lumpkin, both of Athens.
A private burial will be held in Alabama at a later date.
