Born in Athens, he was a son of the late Tony and Dorothy Lee Mann Alewine. He enjoyed Georgia football, NASCAR and coaching his son, Nicholas, in baseball at the Madison County Recreation Department.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Alewine; sons, Nicholas Alewine and Ricky Alewine Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Tammie and Jim DuBose; brother, Mike Alewine; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose and Bob Patterson and Chris and David Garrison; grandchildren, Jadon DuBose, Ansleigh DuBose and Landon DuBose; a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Owens and a brother, Paul Alewine.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev. Clay Huff officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 25 from 6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
