Rebecca Thames Bolden, 91, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011, with congestive heart failure.
A native of Bibb County, Mrs. Bolden was the daughter of the late Matthew G. and Lola Taylor Thames. Mrs. Bolden was preceded in death by her husband Bill Bolden, sisters Frances Wayburn and Nancy Gammage, and brothers James, Earl and Wallace Thames. She had lived most of her life in Macon until she moved in with her daughter, Ginny and son in law Jerry in Watkinsville in 2004, where she died. Mrs. Bolden was a graduate of Miller High School in 1937 and attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville and the Wesleyan Conservatory in Macon. She retired from Robins Air Force Base and was a member of the Vineville United Methodist Church in Macon. Mrs. Bolden also loved reading and her daily walks in the neighborhood.
Survivors include a daughter Ginny Rogers and husband Jerry, granddaughters Becky Slade of Marietta and Leslie Swindle of Leesburg, great grandchildren Ashlee and Dylan Slade and Luke Gardner, sister- in- law Zell Stephen and brothers- in- law Donald and Paul Bolden, niece Elena Molten and nephews Gates Wayburn and Tommy Gammage.
Memorial services will be 2pm Monday, January 2, 2012, at the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Key and Dr. Marcus Tripp officiating. Interment will be in Macon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday, January 2nd.
