Mr. Brown was born in Hartwell, Georgia to Mary Frances Wilson and James Fletcher Brown on October 25, 1935. He went to high school at Hart County High and graduated in 1954. He went on to earn a degree in psychology from LaGrange College.
He worked as an automobile salesman for Heyward Allen Motor Company and went on to open his own business, Paul Brown Motors. He enjoyed golf, coaching baseball, ministry and mentoring young men and women.
He was inducted into the Athens Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013 and was involved in the Bigger Vision of Athens ministry for the unhoused population.
Paul H. Brown is survived by his wife, Ann Brown, of Athens; his son, Jason Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma; his daughter, Renee’ Brown of Athens; his granddaughter, Annesly Brown, of Watkinsville; his grandson, Reynolds Brown of Watkinsville; his granddaughter, Skylar of Watkinsville; and his soon to be born great-grandson, Boone Brown.
A drop-in visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 13, at 3:00 p.m., at Athens First United Methodist Church, with Reverends Jeremy Lawson and Nancy Johnson officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the church’s website at https://athensfirstumc.org and archived for viewing later for those unable to attend. A reception will immediately follow the service in Hancock Hall at the church.
