Patricia was a native Athenian and was the eldest of five children born to the late Gaynell Damron Spratlin and Henry Thomas Spratlin. She was a member of Forest Heights Baptist Church of Athens and was an honor graduate in the Athens High School class of 1958. She was employed for seven and one-half years by General Motors Acceptance Corporation as a Collection Correspondent and after leaving GMAC, she was employed by Ouzts Chevrolet Company in Winder, GA and retired from there after 43 years in the Finance and Insurance departments of the dealership.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Guy C. Hughes; brothers, Gary Spratlin and Tom Spratlin; sister, Gail Spratlin Paul; grandson, Charles Cameron Hughes; nephew, Randy Spratlin; and niece, Stephanie Clapham.
She is survived by her son, Mitch Hughes and his daughter, Melissa Hughes of Fairfax, VA, and Teresa Vest Hughes, Melissa’s mother, of Centreville, VA; son, Tim Hughes and his wife, Lynn of Bethlehem; grandson, Nicholas Hughes and his wife, Baylee of Hoschton; brother, Paul Spratlin and his wife, Eleanor of Dawson; sister-in-law, Sheri Hughes of Athens; cousins, Jeanne Westbrook, Mary Hamby both of Athens; Jimmy Damron of Mint Hill, SC; and Roger Bates of Anderson, SC. Having met at kindergarten, in 1945, her closest friend, Melinda Threlkeld Lanier-Roberts of Mooresville, NC.
All services will be held privately.
