Born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, Mrs. Epps was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Hemmer and Mable Helen Roark Hemmer and was preceded in death by death by her husband, James Harry Epps; daughter, Maura Louise; her step-son, Tom, and brother, Ralph. A retired budget analyst, she was proud of her Irish heritage and traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Her interests included gardening, Scrabble, baseball, the Green Bay Packers, ceramics, and she was Paul Newman’s number 1 fan. Mrs. Epps was a hospital volunteer and an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, David Gerke, Pam LaSalle (Stephen), Debra Gerke, Sara Thompson (Lonnie), Kevin Gerke (Tami), and Brian Gerke (Terrie Tschetter); step-children, Jim Epps (Debbie) and Dale Young; grandchildren, Jason Todus, Jennifer Purcell (Shane), Michael Colabella Jr (Sarah), Laura Hall (Doug), Amanda Flowers (Austin), Maura Meagan Gerke, Jason Young, Julie Young, Josh Young, Tom, and Terrie Epps; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Sharon Schultz; sister-in-law, Audrey Hemmer; niece, Terie Johnson, and nephews, Neil Schultz and Steve Schultz.
A Mass will be held 2PM Monday, September 26th at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David McGinnis officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2PM prior to the service at the church.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the charity of the giver’s choice.
