An Athens native, Melba was the daughter of the late Clarence and Inez Fitzpatrick Webb. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, music and being outdoors. A simple lady, Melba loved her family and raised many children along with her own. She retired from Carwood Manufacturing in Winder.
Survivors include children: Donna Howard (Timothy) of Loganville, Barry Smith (Tracy Burger) of Watkinsville, Kevin Smith of Athens and Kelly Smith of Bogart; brothers: Donnie Webb (Estelle) of Bogart and Gary Webb of Suwanee; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m., at Midway Christian Church in Winder.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
