Joseph H. Hughes

Born June 17, 1944 in Athens, GA, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Nelle Hughes. Mr. Hughes retired from Westinghouse/ABB after 25 years of service, and became the family life and children’s minister at Galilee Christian Church, Jefferson, GA. He was currently retired and a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sherie Hughes; son, Scott Hughes; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hughes; daughters, Stacey Phillips and Kelly Conley; sons-in-law, Lance Phillips and Michael Conley; grandchildren, Austin, Avery, Adam, Andrew, Makenzi, Quinn and Brooke; sister, Serena Hawkins; brother, Guy Hughes; and sister-in-law, Patricia Hughes.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 7:30 in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 2131 Ruth Jackson Rd., Bogart, GA 30622.
